If there’s one nasty bit in Lightroom, it’s moving the location of your physical photo files. One reason you might want to do this, is the purchase of a new hard drive.
There are all sort of tips out there on how to do this, but there’s one way to do it with the least amount of effort.
- Physically move your files
- Open your Lightroom Library. You should now see question marks above your pictures in the library module
- In the left pane in the Library Module, there’s a section “Folders” that -you might have guessed- relates to the physical structure of your drives.
- For each of the topmost folders, there shouldn’t be that many, you right-click (with Mighty Mouse) or cmd-click and choose ‘Locate Folder’. Look for your new folder, and all the links for all pictures under that tree structure will be corrected in your Lightroom Library
