I should have been clearer and should've said that I've never heard Chileans insist that their language is chilean rather than spanish (same for ozzies and québecois, although the last example is statistically very irrelevant). I have, on numerous occasions, heard flemish respond "No, I speak flemish" when asked if they spoke dutch. So you have heard, but I have never heard… ;-)
